Meet the Team
Hoppers Gym is run by 2 Directors Josh King and Paul Keepax. Both have a broad range of knowledge, specialities and experience. Josh and Paul are accompanied by a team of dedicated Class Instructors. You can read more about them below.

Josh King
Director
Josh has been working as a Personal Trainer since 2012. He has a BSc (Hons) Sport and Exercise Science degree and works tirelessly to transform the lives of his clients and specialises in sustainable weight loss. Josh has an extensive amount of knowledge in the safe and effective delivery of resistance-based training to meet a variety of goals specific to an individual's needs.
Josh instructs classes for Hoppers Gym and also works at the Gym offering Personal Training on a Freelance Basis.

Paul Keepax
Director
A Personal Trainer since 1997 and a Kent County Pole Vaulter and High Hurdler prior to that, Paul brings a wealth of experience to Hoppers Gym and has helped countless people over the years reach their fitness goals. Paul is happy to share his opinion on training and diet, and offers an obligation-free complimentary Personal Training session on a Freelance Basis to anyone who is interested.

Paul Kavanagh
Class Instructor
Paul has been working as a Personal Trainer and Sports Massage Therapist for decades and has an enthusiastic and long-term clientele both here and elsewhere. He teaches our Bootcamps and the Saturday HIIT class. His classes are hugely popular, always varied and a keystone of our community. Paul also offers Sports Massage on appointment and Personal Training on a Freelance Basis.

Katie May Tracy
Yoga Instructor
Katie is a 200 hour Yoga Alliance International registered Teacher. She teaches Hatha and Vinyasa Yoga and has been teaching for over a year. She is a journalist by background and currently works in the charity sector. She is also a keen netball player. In Katie's classes you can expect 45 minutes of breath to movement flow, including some breathwork and guided relaxation. Everyone is invited to move at their own pace and there are no expectations. A flexible body is not required, only the willingness to be present in your mind and body.

Sophie Spackman
Class Instructor
Sophie is a qualified Personal Trainer and Fitness Instructor who trained to be a Pelvic Floor Coach, Yoga and Pilates Teacher, including Advanced Pilates. She has studied Level 3 Nutrition and is qualified in Swedish Massage. Sophie is a qualified Run Leader and has taken part in various expeditions, marathons and events and is happy to help members train for their own events.
Sophie can be seen taking some of our classes at Hoppers Gym.

Caroline Kerslake
Class Instructor
Caroline is a Personal Trainer, Massage Therapist, and Therapeutic Midlife Coach, with over 14 years in the health and fitness industry. She specialises in helping people build strength, confidence, and resilience through movement and self care, taking a supportive and holistic approach to fitness and well-being. She works with clients both in-person and online, making it easy to stay active regardless of lifestyle or fitness level.

Victoria Taylor
Class Instructor
Victoria is a Movement Specialist & Somatic Educator With over 25 years of experience in Pilates and somatic movement, she specialises in a "ground-up" approach to wellness.
Her teaching is rooted in the belief that true transformation begins at the feet and integrates the mind-body connection into every sequence. Helping clients discover that changing the way you move doesn't just strengthen the body, it fundamentally shifts how you think and feel.

Bruno Card
Class Instructor
Bruno is a qualified as a Personal Trainer and is passionate about helping others experience the physical and mental benefits of fitness.
Bruno focuses on delivering realistic, sustainable training tailored to each individual, helping clients build healthy habits that fit seamlessly into their lifestyle. Bruno is committed to creating a motivating and supportive environment where clients can improve their confidence, strength, and overall wellbeing while working towards long-term results.

Julie Poole
Class Instructor
Since leaving the Royal Navy, Julie has spent many years in the fitness industry, excelling in a number of roles including Class Instructor, Personal Trainer, Studio Co-ordinator and Gym Manager. A water sports enthusiast, Julie spends a lot of her time teaching Stand Up Paddle boarding at Bodiam, and also at Tonbridge.
Julie instructs classes for us at Hoppers Gym on a weekly basis.

Simon Passey
Class Instructor
Simon has been a Personal Trainer for over 10 years, helping hundreds of people with their health & fitness goals. Throughout his coaching career he's successfully helped clients get stronger, fitter, lose weight & improve their mental health. Simon's approach isn’t about an "all or nothing" mentality. It’s about enjoying exercise, fitting it in around your lifestyle & setting goals realistic to you. Simon won’t be telling you to cut out your favourite foods or getting you to do loads of hardcore workouts every week, because that isn’t sustainable or enjoyable.
Simon instructs classes for Hoppers Gym and also works at the Gym offering Personal Training on a Freelance Basis.

What are your opening times?

We do hope to increase weekend opening hours in the future
Please note, there are no classes on Bank Holidays
Do you have parking?
Yes, there is free parking at the gym. Just drive into the Capel United Church, Badsell Road entrance
Can I just come in for a look around?
Yes of course, but you'll need to book a visit so we can ensure you'll have someone to let you in and show you around

Can I come and have a taster session in the gym?
Yes, you can purchase a one-off / pay as you go gym only session for £12.50 per visit on your preferred day. This is refundable if you take up a membership.
Because we have a secure door system, you’ll need to book an appointment for the day you wish to use your day pass, and will be limited to the 1 entry via the GymMaster App upon and you’ll need to have someone let you in and show you around.
Book and pay via our Membership page and select ‘Gym Only Day Pass’ on your preferred day of visiting.
Can I try out a class without signing up?
Classes are available on pay as you go prices.
If you are not a current member: Book a class by filling in this form.
If you are a current Gym Only Member, wanting to book a pay as you go class, log in to Gym Master, select ‘Booking’ and ‘Book a Class’ from the drop down.
Classes are available on a single pay as you go price (depending on class length), so you can book and pay for one class and come along.
You don’t need to be a member to join our classes. Although we do offer a Class Only membership, for £43 a month, and a Gym and Classes membership for £49 a month.
If I sign up for a membership, how long am I committed for?
Monthly memberships run from month to month, and you can cancel at any time by cancelling your direct debit through your bank. Once you've done this, your membership will be cancelled from the date when your next payment is due.
Do you have CCTV at the gym?
We have 24/7 CCTV in the gym to keep you safe!
We continuously invest in maintaining our operations and systems to look out for you when you’re inside our gyms. All our gyms are equipped with CCTV, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

I'm interested in booking some personal training. Can I have a chat before I commit?
Yes, you can come for a visit and book to see a specific trainer if you wish. They'll be happy to answer any questions you may have. Click here to find out more about our Instructors. Please email if interested, or fill in the form in the website footer.
Can I freeze my membership if I'm away or injured?
Yes, if you have a monthly membership, you can place your membership on hold. Please reach out to us to discuss.
